Padanaram Guitar Works is owned and operated by a musician and luthier, Paul Domingue. Paul is a now-retired educator who began repairing guitars as a hobby in 2002. However, his first build – an Appalachian dulcimer – was completed in 1988. Paul is also an accomplished folk and acoustic blues performer who has been playing and singing since the first bloom of the Folk Revival in 1964. He performs under his middle name, Paul Charles, and a few of his recordings can be heard on Bandcamp, Apple Music and Spotify.
In addition to his solo work, Paul was also a member of a number of bands over the past 60 years, most recently the bands French Quarter, Southern Arizona Railroad and Cypress Grove.
From 2012 until 2024 Paul owned Guitar Repair Tucson in Arizona. GRT was a very busy repair shop catering to Tucson’s extensive folk and acoustic music community. In addition, he began to build custom acoustic guitars under the Padanaram name around 2014.
Both Padanaram Guitars and Guitar Repair Tucson were busy, thriving businesses with many loyal customers. During his last 2 years in Tucson he garnered over 150 Google reviews – 100% of which were 5 star.
In Tucson Paul also took on a few students to learn about guitar building and repair. His shop became a gathering place for a number of enthusiastic customers, band-mates and music friends. Music was always spilling out of the shop door.
Paul moved to Kissimmee Florida in 2024, setting up a new shop under the Padanaram Guitar Works name. Several of his Tucson customers still stay in touch for evaluation and advice.
Now settled in Florida, he continues to provide expert repair services and has resumed his custom builds. He’s also always on the lookout for folk and bluegrass festivals and “parking lot pickers” to jam with! Paul provides free consultations and evaluations, and is experienced in just about any stringed instrument repair task.
